Zum 400. Todestag des großen englischen Renaissancekomponisten William Byrd singt das Vokalensemble sirventes berlin das grandiose, geradezu üppige geistliche Werk „The Great Service“. Vermutlich entstand diese umfangreiche Vertonung eines ganzen anglikanischen Gottesdienstes für die Chapel Royal in London, und zwar vor dem Jahr 1606. Die Besetzung für zehn Stimmen und der musikalische Satz sind dermaßen anspruchsvoll, dass dieses 1923 wieder entdeckte Meisterwerk nur selten einstudiert wird, demzufolge auch neu zu entdecken ist.
